White Bedding: Refresh Your Space With Luxury Linens

Maloney Interiors Team here with some tricks of the trade!

ALL WHITE LINENS ARE OUR GO-TO PICK FOR A LUXE BEDROOM RETREAT. WE’RE SPILLING OUR TOP TIPS ON PURCHASING + CARING FOR WHITE BEDDING.

Image: Matouk

If you haven’t considered using white bedding before, here are a few of our top reasons to make the switch. We’re also rounding up our favorite sources for high-quality white linens that are worth the investment.

From stain potential to laundry care, we know white bedding may seem a bit intimidating, especially from a maintenance standpoint. However, white bedding can actually be easier to care for than other alternatives! Unlike colored bedding, white bedding can often be treated and washed at higher temperatures than colored bedding- reducing any stain concerns and offering a longer lifespan. To maintain the brightness of your bedding, the following steps are recommended:

For Routine Washes:

  • 1/4 cup baking soda mixed with a small amount of mild liquid detergent
  • 1/2 cup vinegar added to the fabric softener compartment

Be sure to wash on gentle in cool to warm water.

For More Intensive Washes (i.e. to remove stains or reverse discoloring):

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp dishwashing liquid

Soak in a tub of warm water for at least 30 minutes and then machine wash regular with cool water. Bonus tip- drying your freshly washed white bedding in the sun is a best-kept secret for maintaining whiteness.

IT’S A CLASSIC

If there’s one thing we particularly love about white bedding, it’s that it goes with everything and will never go out of style. Spending a bit extra on a quality white duvet will end up costing less in the long run as opposed to a wild pattern that won’t grow with you or your space. For the most timeless of styles, we love Matouk this set is our go-to for any home.

IT’S PRACTICAL

As we mentioned, white bedding is undeniably the easiest to care for long term. Opting for an all-white ensemble not only gives you the flexibility to wash and bleach, but it also adds ease to your everyday. No more sifting through piles to find matching pillowcases- if everything is white, you can streamline your household chores and spend more time doing things you actually enjoy. If you’re weary to leave patterned bedding in the wind, consider adding a textured coverlet such as this one from Eastern Accents to keep the look interesting.

IT’S LUXURIOUS

All-white bedding is a hotel staple- bring the luxe resort vibe to your bedroom by emulating the calmness and opulence found in many hotel suites. We love using the Pettine Collection from Sferra to create the ultimate spa-like experience in any master bedroom.

IT’S CALMING

White bedding is the perfect combination with any color palette and balances out any visual clutter in a room. We even recommend white bedding in children’s rooms to counter bright toys and other decor accents. If you aren’t ready to make the full switch, start by choosing a high-quality all-white sheet set so you can test drive the idea of white linens.

Hiring an Interior Designer can streamline the design process and actually save you money long term! Reach out to schedule a consultation so we can bring your decor dreams to life!

Rhode Island Real Estate Activity Numbers | April 2021

Please find the latest market activity comparisons for the state of Rhode Island.

Interestingly enough, new listing activity since mid-March has exceeded the 2020 levels as expected due to the impact of Covid on the market last spring.
The properties under agreement have surpassed the 2019 and 2020 levels since the beginning of March.
Sold properties are on par with 2019 through the end of March but are expected to accelerate due to the pending transactions and the velocity in the market.
The Rhode Island real estate market continues to experience multiple offers on new inventory coming to the market.  The buyer pool has remained strong and determined to purchase despite the rising prices and levels of competition.  Interest rates continue to remain low and are fueling the market.  It remains an opportune time for sellers since single family inventory is below a one month’s supply.
