#GiveBackFridays: Literacy Volunteers of Washington County

Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to be an active member of our local community. We believe community is an extension of home and we are dedicated to the betterment of our surroundings through effective participation. We are honored to support more than twenty local non-profit organizations.

Literacy Volunteers of Washington County is a nonprofit organization offering assistance to adults interested in improving their literacy skills. According to the website, LVWC focuses “on helping adults at the lowest literacy levels. Our volunteers assist adult basic education learners and English as a second language learners. Our services include free programs based on a participant’s individual goals: adult basic literacy, English for speakers of other languages, citizenship preparation, financial literacy, workforce literacy, and GED support.”

The Joyce S. Ahern Speaker Series is an annual event during which an author or speaker offers a presentation followed by a reception and book signing at the Ocean House in Watch Hill. Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty has sponsored the event since 2013.
