Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty Announces Sale of Maplecroft Mansion by Taylor & Associates

Fall River, MA (February 1, 2018) – Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty is pleased to announce the sale of 306 French Street, Fall River, for $600,000. Following the acquittal of the murder of her parents, the home at 306 French Street, Maplecroft Mansion, was purchased by Lizzie Borden and her sister Emma in 1893. The sellers of this famed home were represented by Robert Rutley of Taylor & Associates, Sales Associate with Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty. Taylor & Associates also facilitated the transaction for the buyers.

According to Robert, “Lizzie Borden’s Maplecroft is one of Fall River’s most important historic homes. It has been our absolute pleasure to guide this spectacularly restored Queen Anne home to its new owners that will lovingly carry on its historical tradition in the community.” Renovated to reflect the home’s original grandeur, the sale of 306 French Street includes all furniture and fixtures curated to maintain its character.

The seller of the home, Kristee Bates, adds, “Congratulations and best of luck to the new owners of Maplecroft. I hope [they] enjoy the history and the home as much as I have and wish them the best of luck moving forward.”

“We are all very excited for the opportunity to continue our efforts in preserving the history of Lizzie Borden and serving the community of Fall River,” asserts Donald Woods, the buyer, who also owns the infamous property in which Borden’s parents were murdered. Woods currently operates the Borden home as a bed and breakfast and plans to do the same with Maplecroft.

Judy Chace, Broker Co-Owner of Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty states, “The sale of Maplecroft Mansion represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a significant piece of Fall River’s history.”
