MCSIR Closes High-end Elmgrove Sale

Built in 1900, this four-bedroom Victorian home at 92 Elmgrove Avenue on the East Side of Providence recently closed for $850,000. According to Rhode Island Statewide Multiple Listing Service, this closing marks the highest-priced sale on Elmgrove Avenue in the past two years.

Listing agent Michael Sweeney adds, “The East Side of Providence embraces such incredibly diverse architecture and community. Having lived on the East Side for over 20 years, I understand and appreciate this diversity on a personal level. This understanding combined with expert staging advice helped me and my seller achieve this recent record high sales price after just 12 days on the market. Pricing homes appropriately is paramount; this, paired with my intimate local knowledge of the area, allows for the best possible value and results for my clients.” Sweeney also represented the buyers in this transaction.

Encompassing the oldest parts of Rhode Island’s capital city, the East Side honors many historic homes that have been preserved through The Providence Preservation Society and the Rhode Island Historical Society. Two years after founding Providence, Roger Williams founded the First Baptist Church in America in 1638. This church still operates today at its original address of 75 North Main Street.

Also home to Brown University and RISD, the East Side of Providence is also a bustling college town much of the year. For a walk through a timeline of East Side history, click here.
